Frederick Chenel, CFA

Manager, Marketing and Communications, Institutional Markets

Frederick Chenel is a member of the Institutional Markets team and participates in the marketing effort with various consulting firms and institutional clients.

Mr. Chenel has 7 years of industry experience and joined the firm in 2010. Prior experiences include Practice Leader and Research Analyst positions at a leading Canadian investment consulting firm.

Mr. Chenel graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce (BComm), majoring in Finance. He later obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Benoit Desjardins, MBA

Vice-President, Institutional Markets

Benoit Desjardins is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for client servicing and business development for charitable and religious organizations.

Mr. Desjardins has 12 years of industry experience and has been with the firm since 2012. Prior experiences include positions as Director, Futures Contracts at the Montreal Exchange, Trader and Analyst - Currency Management and Quantitative Products and Regional Sales Manager at a major Canadian investment management firm.

Mr. Desjardins graduated from HEC-Montréal with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), majoring in Finance and later received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same university.

Charles Desmeules

Vice President, Institutional Markets

Charles Desmeules is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for client servicing and business development for charitable and religious organizations.

Mr. Desmeules has 25 years of industry experience and has been with the firm since its inception. Prior experiences include positions as Vice President Client Service and Portfolio Manager at major Canadian investment management firms.

Mr. Desmeules graduated from Université Laval with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), majoring in Finance.

Martin Dufresne, M.Sc., CFA

Senior Vice President, Institutional Markets

Martin Dufresne is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for business development and client servicing for institutional clients.

Mr. Dufresne has 16 years of industry experience and has been with the firm since its inception. Prior experiences include Portfolio Manager - Canadian Small Cap Equities at Fiera Capital and Director - Canadian Equities and Analyst positions at major Canadian investment management firms.

Mr. Dufresne graduated from HEC Montréal with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Finance and Economics, as well as a Master of Science in Finance (MSc) from Université de Sherbrooke. He later received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Julie Lalonde, CFA

Vice President, Marketing and Investment Strategies, Institutional Markets

Julie Lalonde is a member of the Institutional Markets team, supervises the marketing team and has client servicing responsibilities for institutional clients.

Ms. Lalonde has 13 years of industry experience and has been with the firm since 2008. Prior experiences include roles as Director of Investments at major International pension funds.

Ms. Lalonde graduated from Université du Québec à Montréal with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), majoring in Finance. She later received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Élyse Léger, FCIA, FSA, CFA, CAIA

Vice President, Development and Client Service, Liability Driven Investment

Élyse Léger is Fiera Capital Corporation's Vice President Institutional Services. She has been active in the pension and investment industry since 1992, initially as a consulting actuary, then with investment firms including State Street Global Advisors and more recently as Manager, Investments for Bombardier Inc. Élyse is a Concordia University Graduate (Actuarial Mathematics) and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. She also holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) designations.

Robert Lorimer

Vice President, Institutional Markets

Robert Lorimer is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for client servicing and business development for institutional clients.

Mr. Lorimer has 26 years of industry experience and has been with the firm and a predecessor since 1997. Prior experiences include Management and Sales and Marketing positions in the Pension and Employee Benefits divisions at one of North America’s largest insurance companies.

Mr. Lorimer graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Finance.

Benjamin Luk

Assistant Vice President, Institutional Markets

Benjamin Luk is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for client servicing for institutional clients.

Mr. Luk has 7 years of industry experience and has been with the firm and a predecessor since 2004.

Mr. Luk graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Finance. He later obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Leslie Macdonald

Vice President, Client Service Support, Institutional Markets

Leslie Macdonald is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for maintaining the high quality of our client servicing by working with clients, custodians and our client servicing team.

Ms. Macdonald has 22 years of industry experience and has been with the firm and a predecessor since 1989. Prior experiences include several client service and portfolio administration positions within the firm.

Bob Moffat, MA

Vice President, Institutional Markets

Bob Moffat is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for business development and client servicing for institutional clients.

Mr. Moffat has 27 years of industry experience and has been with the firm and a predecessor since 1994. Prior experiences include various Vice President and Analyst positions with leading North American investment management and insurance firms.

Mr. Moffat graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honors Bachelor in Arts (BA) majoring in Economics, as well as a Master in Arts (MA) in Economics from McMaster University.

David B. Pennycook

Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President, Institutional Markets

David Pennycook leads the Institutional Markets team and his responsibilities include business development and client servicing for institutional clients. He is also a member of the firm’s management committee.

Mr. Pennycook has 32 years of industry experience and has been with the firm and a predecessor since 1991. Before its merger with Fiera Capital, Mr. Pennycook was CEO and President of Sceptre Investment Counsel Limited. Prior experiences include marketing and servicing roles at major Canadian investment management firms and insurance companies. He is also the Co-Chairman on the Canadian Investment/Corporate Committee of the International Foundation.

Mr. Pennycook graduated from the University of Manitoba with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (BComm).

Mario D. Richard, CFA

Senior Vice President and Investment Strategist, Institutional Markets

Mario Richard is a member of the Institutional Markets team and of the Asset Allocation team. In addition to his business development and client servicing responsibilities, Mr. Richard also plays an active role in asset allocation.

Mr. Richard has 30 years of industry experience and has been with the firm and a predecessor since 1997. Prior experiences include Senior Partner, Portfolio Manager and Analyst positions at major Canadian investment management and insurance firms.

Mr. Richard graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath). He later received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Yan Shterev, CMA, CFA

Vice President, Institutional Markets

Yan Shterev is a member of the Institutional Markets team and is responsible for client servicing and business development for institutional clients.

Mr. Shterev has 12 years of industry experience and has been with the firm since 2006. Prior experiences include Portfolio Analyst, Pooled Fund Accountant and Senior Administrator positions at leading Canadian investment management firms.

Mr. Shterev graduated from Université du Québec à Montréal with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Management Accounting. He also holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations.

Pierre Sweeney

Senior Vice President, Client Service, Institutional Markets

Pierre Sweeney graduated from HEC Montreal in 1978 and has been a Financial Analyst and Portfolio Manager ever since. He successively held those positions at the Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec (1981-1997) before joining TAL Global Asset Management (1997-2006), where he was in charge of the Canadian Equities team in the Wealth Management Group. He then joined BIMCOR as Vice President, Canadian Equities (2006-2009).
