MONTREAL, QUEBEC – December 12th, 2011 – We are pleased to announce the creation of Fiera Properties Limited, a newly formed joint venture between Fiera Sceptre and Axia Investments Inc. The objective of this new business venture is to build a national real estate investment services platform that will offer institutional investors unique fund vehicles and segregated account management services.
In this context, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Lazier as President and Chief Executive Officer of this company, effective December 1. In these roles, Stuart will provide the leadership and management knowhow required to successfully put into place the organizational structure, people, business processes and procedures required to conduct the strategic and operational activities of Fiera Properties Limited on an ongoing basis. Stuart will be a member of the Board of Directors, and will report to Jean-Guy Desjardins, who will serve as Chairman of the Board.
Stuart was a co-founder and partner with KingSett Capital Inc. until the end of February 2009. In addition to assisting with the strategic leadership of the business, he was also responsible for the operations, leasing and value optimization of KingSett's portfolio. As former President of O&Y Enterprise, he managed the growth of the real estate management services business. Before this, he was the National Managing Partner of Enterprise Property Group, which was Canada's premier third party commercial management services company, operating over 50 million square feet across Canada. In 1998, he led the combination of Enterprise Property Group and O&Y Properties to form O&Y Enterprise. Stuart has been the principal shareholder of Axia Investments since the year 2000. He holds an MBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario.
We are also pleased to announce that Catherine Marshall joined Fiera Properties on December 1, as Vice President. Catherine has close to twenty years of experience in the real estate investment industry, having held a number of senior management positions at firms such as LaSalle Investment Management, Canadian Urban Limited, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Queens University, a Master of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Simon Fraser University in B.C., and is also a CFA charter holder. Catherine will work closely with Stuart and other members of the Executive team to support the strategic and business development of the new entity.
