Jean-Guy Desjardins, C.M., L.Sc. Comm., CFA

Chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer

Jean-Guy Desjardins is Chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Fiera Capital, an independent investment management firm that he created in 2003. The firm has since continued its expansion by way of several acquisitions across North America.

After working as a financial analyst and portfolio manager for a life insurance company, Mr. Desjardins co-founded TAL Global Asset Management in 1972 and was its principal shareholder until its purchase by a financial institution in 2001.

Mr. Desjardins is a member of the Board of Directors of the Société de Services Financiers Fonds FMOQ, HEC Montréal, DJM Capital Inc., and Centria Inc. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Fiera Properties Limited.

Mr. Desjardins supports a variety of community and social programs, in particular as a member of the Council of Governors of Centraide of Greater Montréal. He also sits on the Investment Committee of the Canadian Centre for Architecture and on the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.

Mr. Desjardins graduated from Collège Mont-Saint-Louis in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1969, he earned his L.Sc.Comm. (Finance) from HEC Montréal. Mr. Desjardins is also a CFA Charterholder. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in December 2014 and, in 2015, received the CFA Institute Award for Excellence, the highest and most prestigious distinction bestowed by the CFA Institute.

Sylvain Brosseau

Global President and Chief Operating Officer

Sylvain Brosseau is the Global President and Chief Operating Officer of Fiera Capital and has over 24 years of experience in the investment management industry.

Prior to joining Fiera Capital, Mr. Brosseau served as Executive Vice President, Institutional Markets at TAL Global Asset Management Inc. and Executive Vice President at TAL International where he oversaw worldwide distribution and operations. His experience also includes terms as Vice President, Marketing and Vice President, Technology and Operations at Talvest Mutual Funds. Mr. Brosseau is currently a member of the board of directors of Centria Inc., Fiera Axium Infrastructure Inc. and Equisoft Inc. He is also a member of the firm's Management Committee.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) from the University of Vermont and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) from McGill University.

John Valentini

Global Chief Financial Officer and Head of Private Alternative Investments

Mr. John Valentini is the Global Chief Financial Officer and Head of Private Alternative Investments of Fiera Capital.

In his role as Chief Financial Officer, he has the overall responsibility to manage the finance, information technology and investment operations, legal and compliance and enterprise risk management functions, as well as playing a key role in strategic initiatives.

Mr. Valentini also has the responsibility to oversee and support the growth and development of Fiera Capital’s private alternative investment strategies, including Fiera Comox, Fiera Infrastructure, Fiera Private Debt and Fiera Properties.

Mr. Valentini has over 16 years of experience as a senior executive in managing both public and private organizations, including in the area of investment management. Prior to joining Fiera Capital, he held the positions of Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at PSP Investment Inc., Chief Financial Officer at BCE Emergis and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Cognicase Inc., as well as senior positions in Corporate Finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Caisse de depot and placement du Quebec and Ernst & Young.

Mr. Valentini holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Great Distinction) and Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University, and is an Advanced Management Program Graduate of Wharton, University of Pennsylvania. He also holds the following professional designations: Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Business Valuator and Accredited Senior Appraiser. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Alain St-Hilaire, CHRP

Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Communications

Alain St-Hilaire is Senior Vice President of Human Resources. He is responsible for all aspects of human resource management for the firm and is also a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Mr. St-Hilaire has 37 years of human resources experience, including 18 in the financial services industry. He has been with the firm since its inception. Prior experiences include positions as Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Corporate Manager, Executive Compensation Manager as well as Succession Planning and Executive Staffing Manager with some of Canada’s largest investment management and manufacturing firms.

Mr. St-Hilaire graduated from HEC Montréal with a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Human Resources, and holds the Chartered Human Resources Professional (CHRP) from the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines et en relations industrielles du Québec.

Violaine Des Roches

Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs and Compliance

Violaine Des Roches is responsible for all legal and compliance aspects of the firm. She also acts as Fiera Capital’s Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary. She is also a member of the firm's Management Committee.

Ms. Des Roches benefits from 31 years of experience in the investment management industry and has been with the firm since 2006. Prior experiences include positions as Vice President Legal Affairs and Compliance, Corporate Secretary as well as Legal Advisor at leading Canadian investment firms.

Ms. Des Roches graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor in Arts (BA). She later completed a Bachelor in Civil Law (BCL) from McGill University and was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1986.

David Stréliski

Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer

David Stréliski is in charge of developing and leading the firm’s risk management function and corporate risk governance framework across all risk categories. He also plays an advisory role with senior management and the Board of Directors, and sits the firm's Executive Committee.

David has over 20 years of experience in the fields of risk and performance management and financial modelling, in the service of large financial institutions and consulting firms in Montreal, Ottawa and Switzerland. Prior to joining Fiera Capital, he was Vice-president, Performance and valuation at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.

David received his CFA designation in 1999 and holds both a master’s degree in applied economics and a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from HEC Montréal. He has been involved with PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers’ International Association) since 2002. He currently holds the position of regional co-director for the Montreal chapter and sat on the Global Board of Directors from 2002 to 2010. He joined the Board of Directors of HEC Montréal’s Alumni Association in 2014.

Peter Stock

Senior Vice President, Strategic Development

Peter Stock, SVP of Strategic Development at Fiera Capital, has over 36 years of financial services industry experience in the United States, Canada and South East Asia.  Peter has extensive experience with private wealth and institutional clients in the areas of investment management, marketing, sales and client services.

Prior to joining Fiera, Peter founded a US based registered investment advisor company, managing global balanced, equity and fixed income investment portfolios for high net worth clients and corporations in the US and Hong Kong.

Peter's earlier experience includes working at TAL Investment Counsel as Managing Director of the Hong Kong office and prior to that as Vice President for Institutional Sales and Marketing in Vancouver, British Columbia.

From 1982 to 1992, Peter worked in New York as a Senior Vice President for Dean Witter Reynolds and Lehman Brothers in Institutional Equity Sales. In 1978, he began his career as an Account Executive with A.E. Ames & Co in Toronto.

Peter served nine years on the Board of Trustees of a not-for-profit rural New England health care facility, three as President.  He graduated with a degree in History and Politics from Trent University, Ontario in 1977.
