Jean-Guy Desjardins is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Fiera Capital Corporation, an independent investment management firm that he created in 2003. The firm has since continued its expansion by way of several acquisitions across North America, Europe and Asia.
After working as a financial analyst and portfolio manager for a life insurance company, Mr. Desjardins co-founded TAL Global Asset Management in 1972 and was its principal shareholder until its purchase by a financial institution in 2001.
Mr. Desjardins is a member of the Board of Directors of the Société de Services Financiers Fonds FMOQ, HEC Montréal, DJM Capital Inc. and the Canadian Institute of Advanced Research.
Mr. Desjardins also supports a variety of community and social programs, in particular as a member of the Council of Governors of Centraide of Greater Montréal. Additionally, he sits on the Investment Committee of the Canadian Centre for Architecture and on the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
Mr. Desjardins graduated from Collège Mont-Saint-Louis in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts. In 1969, he earned his L.Sc.Comm. (Finance) from HEC Montréal. Mr. Desjardins is also a CFA Charterholder. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in December 2014 and, in 2015, received the CFA Institute Award for Excellence, the highest and most prestigious distinction bestowed by the CFA Institute.
François Bourdon is Global Chief Investment Officer. In this role, Mr. Bourdon oversees the firm’s investment policies and strategies as well as aspects of risk management, operations and governance across all of Fiera Capital’s investment activities. He manages, for the Canadian division, private financing strategies, global bonds and income funds, while also focusing on infrastructure funds, real estate, and private investments. François serves as an expert spokesperson relating to economic and investment matters.
Mr. Bourdon has 21 years of industry experience and has been with the firm since its inception. Over the course of his career, he has held various positions including Associate Chief Investment Officer, Portfolio Manager - Quantitative Research, Director - Sales Strategies and Product Development as well as a consultant with leading Canadian investment management and life insurance organizations.
Mr. Bourdon graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) with a major in Actuarial Sciences. He later became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA). He also obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designations.
Candice Bangsund is a member of the Asset Allocation committee, focusing on central banks and fundamental macro analysis. She also actively participates in the development and communication of the Asset Allocation strategy.
Ms. Bangsund’s career in the investment industry spans almost eleven years, including eight years as an Investment Research Analyst for Franklin Templeton. While working with Franklin Templeton and the Franklin Templeton Global Asset Allocation Committee, she gained extensive experience with global macroeconomic research for asset classes, regions, sectors, commodities, and currencies. She also conducted multi-manager fund research and analysis with a focus on Canadian and Global Equity asset classes.
Ms. Bangsund obtained her Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2009. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Regina in Finance.
Craig Salway contributes to the Asset Allocation committee, and as Portfolio Manager, he is involved in the management of the Active Trading, Multi-Strategy Income and Global Bonds Funds.
Mr. Salway has 15 years of experience in the investment management industry. He has been with the firm and a predecessor since 2010. Prior experiences include positions as Trader, Analyst as well as Portfolio Manager at various investment firms.
Mr. Salway graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) majoring in Finance and also obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Nicolas Vaugeois is Portfolio Manager, Global Asset Allocation at Fiera Capital. In this role, he is involved in the management of the Fiera Multi-Strategy Income Funds, Global Bonds and Non-traditional Income strategies. Mr. Vaugeois also contributes to the Asset Allocation Committee.
Mr. Vaugeois has more than 5 years of experience in the investment management industry and joined the firm in 2013. Prior to his current role, he was Assistant Portfolio Manager, Non-Traditional Income.
Mr. Vaugeois graduated from HEC Montréal with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Finance and holds a Master’s in Finance (M.Sc.) from HEC Montréal. He obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Caroline Grandoit holds a dual role working on Multi-Asset Class Solutions (MACS) and Liability Driven Investment (LDI). She is responsible for creating, implementing and monitoring risk targeted and immunized liability driven portfolios as well as structured multi-asset mandates. Furthermore, she is in charge of the research and development supporting Fiera’s Multi-asset class solutions and proprietary risk factor-based asset allocation model.
Mrs. Grandoit joined the firm in 2017. Her career in the financial industry spans over 12 years working both in the United States and Canada, helping institutional clients in her actuarial, financial strategy and portfolio management roles. She specializes in asset-liability modeling, portfolio projections and customized strategic asset allocation optimization.
Mrs. Grandoit is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal where she studied Actuarial Mathematics and Finance. She is also a CFA charterholder (CFA), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Certified Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA).
